Sierra is 1/2 chocolate labrador retriever and 1/2 golden retriever. She looks like a short haired golden retriever. She has the white markings behind her legs and backside. She was born December 15, 2000.
This is Sierra at about four to five weeks. I cannot take credit for this picture, a friend, Leann, who own Sierra's parents took the picture. Her ability with a camera is great.
These pictures were taken after I brought her home. She is about seven to eight weeks old in these pictures.

I should probably have a more recent picture here for Sierra, this one was taking Thanksgiving 2003.
Before Sierra I was fortunate enough to have a wonderful dog named Orion. He was also a great dog. I got him from the humane society in College Station, TX while I was in graduate school. He was about eight or nine weeks old when I brought him home. Orion started to get sick a lot when he was a year old. One night, after I moved to Birmingham, he had a seizure. He suffered from epilepsy for a couple of years. In the end, he got very sick and passed away as we brought him in to the Auburn Vet School. It was very sad to lose my first dog. He really was great and I had not planned to get another dog for awhile after the pain of losing Orion. However, when I first saw Sierra's litter I knew I was ready for another dog and Sierra is great!
My uncle sent me a short poem, "A Dog's Plea" and though it may bring tears to my eyes it is a wonderful poem. Please take a look at the poem and remember what it says.
